What does the reliever shortage mean for you as a teacher, and the tamariki you teach?

There is such a shortage of relievers at my work. You struggle to find [a reliever] if a staff member is sick or have an urgent appointment with doctors or specialist. Due to COVID and flu, teachers are getting sick and want to take time off . They feel guilty of taking sick leaves because it is very difficult to find relievers on a short notice.

What will it take to fix the reliever shortage?

Hire more teachers and better pay I suppose to retain them.

The well being of the tamariki and teachers will not be compromised.
