What does the issue of pay mean for you as a teacher, and the tamariki you teach?

I just wish our pay reflected the mahi we currently do and pay rises were annual and not based on hours worked.

I am a part time teacher who puts a lot into her mahi and am on the lowest point on the pay scale. Yet someone who has just started gets payed twice as much as a do because they have worked more hours than me in ECE.

It makes me feel undervalued when I am employed to do the same work as someone else who is payed so much more. Tamariki are missing out on quality teaching and learning because some kaiako just want to ride the gravy train into retirement.

What will it take to fix pay for kindergarten teachers?

You all start on the same pay when entering employment into Kindergarten and then go up each year.
