We have increasing number of two year olds, who need us to be spending time with them, changing nappies and supporting toileting.
What does the issue of staff to student ratios mean for you as a teacher, and the tamariki you teach?
We have increasing number of two year olds, who need us to be spending time with them. Changing nappies and supporting toileting does take time, as well as providing a safe environment for these little ones as they learn to negotiate being in a kindergarten environment.
What will it take to fix staff to student ratios?
Two year olds need more attention and care than we can provide at 1:10. This needs to be 1:5 at least.
When we fix staff to student ratios, what impact will that change have on you as a teacher, and the tamariki you teach?
We will be able to give our youngest tamariki the time and support they deserve.
