Children that have additional needs are taking a lot of the [teaching] teams time therefore other children are missing out.
What does the issue of staff to student ratios mean for you as a teacher, and the tamariki you teach?
I am a reliever and work at centres that have amazing staff and teams.
I am noticing that children that have additional needs are taking a lot of the teams time therefore other children are missing out. This is no fault of the teachers. Some children have support but the time the additional teacher is there is so short and often children are there a full day.
What will it take to fix staff to student ratios?
Additional staff should be easier to access and more hours available.
When we fix staff to student ratios, what impact will that change have on you as a teacher, and the tamariki you teach?
More directed teaching will happen as teachers are able to spend better quality time with all children.
